How to withdraw and swap your SHFL
How to withdraw and swap your SHFL
Updated over a week ago

This article will guide you through the process of withdrawing your SHFL from Shuffle to either a non-custodial wallet (i.e. a wallet NOT controlled by a centralised exchange) or Backpack Exchange, a third party centralised exchange, which has a SHFL/USDC spot pair.

Blockchain transactions are irreversible, and Shuffle cannot retrieve any funds lost on-chain, so it is important to follow each step closely. Please review the guide carefully and conduct your own research if you have any further questions.

Withdrawing to Backpack Exchange

If you wish to trade your SHFL for USDC, you may want to consider creating an account with Backpack Exchange. At the time of writing, Backpack Exchange is regulated by the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority. Ensure you carefully consider whether their services are right for you. You can sign up here using our referral link: https://backpack.exchange/signup?referral=Shuffle.

Steps to Withdraw SHFL to Backpack Exchange

  1. Log in to your Backpack Exchange account and click “Deposit.” Since SHFL is an ERC-20 token, you will need to select “Ethereum”. For further information, please refer to Backpack Support, in particular the articles relating to Deposits and Withdrawals.

  2. Once you have a Backpack Exchange deposit address for SHFL, navigate to your Shuffle account and click on “Wallet,” then “Withdraw.”

  3. Ensure SHFL is selected, then paste your Backpack Exchange deposit address into the “Shuffle (ERC20) Address” field.

  4. Double-check your Backpack Exchange deposit address is correct, as withdrawals are irreversible once sent.

Swapping Your SHFL to USDC on Backpack Exchange

  1. You can trade your SHFL for USDC using the SHFL/USDC spot pair available via this link: https://backpack.exchange/trade/SHFL_USDC.

For further information on how to trade and the fees involved, please refer to Backpack Help, in particular, the articles relating to Trading.

Withdrawing to a Non-Custodial Wallet

Since SHFL is an ERC-20 token, you must have your own non-custodial ERC-20 wallet. We like the MetaMask wallet, but there are various other options available. Please consider carefully which wallet is appropriate for you.

In this article, we show how to withdraw to a MetaMask wallet. This is for illustrative purposes only.

You can install and set up MetaMask here: MetaMask Setup Guide. For mobile users, download the MetaMask app and follow these steps here: MetaMask Mobile Guide.

Adding SHFL to MetaMask

  1. Open MetaMask and select “Import Tokens”.

  2. Search for ‘SHFL’ and select it from the list.

3. Click “Next” and then “Import” to add SHFL as a recognised token in MetaMask.

Steps to Withdraw SHFL to Your Wallet

Open your MetaMask extension or app and copy your wallet address by clicking on it.

In your Shuffle account, click “Wallet,” then “Withdraw”.

Ensure SHFL is selected, and paste your copied MetaMask wallet address into the “Shuffle (ERC20) Address” field.

Double-check your MetaMask wallet address is correct before confirming, as withdrawals are irreversible once sent.

Swapping your SHFL to another currency on your non-custodial wallet

You may also be able to connect your wallet to Uniswap, a third party decentralised exchange. Using Uniswap you can swap your SHFL for various other cryptocurrencies but please consider carefully whether Uniswap is appropriate for you and do your own research. Visit this link for more information: Uniswap SHFL Swap.

  1. Connect your wallet to Uniswap.

  2. Select the cryptocurrency you’d like to swap your SHFL for.

  3. If you’re happy with the quoted price, confirm your transaction and your swap will be completed!

Frequently asked questions:

  1. Why can’t I swap or send my SHFL once it’s in my wallet?

    1. You will need to fund your wallet with ETH to facilitate the ordering of any SHFL to swap or send your tokens. This is a transaction fee charged by validators of the network. We recommend that you send at least $20 worth of ETH to your wallet address.
